Ahead a little

Well, for anyone who saw my Halloween show, there was some new lights up that will also be used for Christmas! They are called Technicolor Pixels and are the newest design of RGB smart pixels - which means each and every light bulb can be controlled on it's own and can be made to be any color desired. So there can be some really neat effects - of which I'm only just learning of different ways to use them.

Next is to start putting out the traditional lights which will start very soon!

2012 Show

Well the show is running, but I haven't finished putting out all the lights. My goal was to change some parts of the show to make it look a little different and to add a couple of new components, but time doing it has been less than I had hoped. I have the new components just about ready, but I haven't updated the programming yet so it will take a little more time. Do stop back in a couple weeks to see what has been changed and thanks for stopping by! Also don't forget to subscribe to the Facebook page for more updates and other topics.

New Song Added

I just recently added another new song from one of Holdman's lineup. I still have some minor adjustments to make it a little better. I have one channel in an arch that is not working like it should so I just unplugged it. I hope to be able to fix it before too long.

Display is running!

The show is finally running! It's just two of the songs from last year with a little bit of new animation with the Mega Tree. I'm close to finishing a third song and have one more that I hope to finish within a couple of weeks. The show runs from 6pm to 10pm M-Th. and 6pm to 11pm on Fri-Sun. I have an animation show that will be run from 5pm to 6pm every day and 10pm to 11pm (M-Th). I have a little more work to do on that as well so it will just be static in those hours for now.

Working out the power problem....

posted Nov 17, 2011, 10:30 PM by David Williams

So this year I've added a 125 Amp sub-panel just for the Christmas lights! I've also added two new controllers. One will be for animating the Mega Tree a little more, and the other is split with a new project (to be seen) and some of the candy canes. So that gives me some free channels (by moving the controls for part of the candy canes) that I now can use for other parts of the display. But I need to balance out all the power with what I'm trying to accomplish. So that takes time staring at a spreadsheet of all the channels and how much power each requires. Once I get it where I like it I then need to reprogram the sequences. I'm still shooting to have the show running on my traditional date (Sat. after Thanksgiving). So stop by to see the early event. But that is just when things start. I'll then be working on the new parts of the display and hope to have them included the following weekend. But check back here for updates....

Started putting up lights...

I started putting the display up on Saturday Nov. 12th. I actually got further than I though I would have. I had labeled everything pretty well from last year and that really helps. I also stored the strings of lights a little better than in the past. I can say that placing grocery bags in between sets of lights stored in boxes works well.
